Scorsese's latest, with Leonardo Dicaprio, out Nov 15th. Kinda looks like Goodfellas with wall street guys to me- what do you think?

The new Superman movie got mixed reviews from the critics (56% Rotten Tomatoes, 55 Metacritic), but did some serious damage at the box office this weekend, for a total of $125.1 million since opening Thursday night. Earning an "A-" Cinemascore from crowds and playing 56% male, 44% female (a closer gender mix than usual for the genre) it's expected to cross $300 million easily by the end of its run. The other new release this weekend, This is the End, opened with $32.8 million total since Wednesday and a "B+" Cinemascore, which is fairly healthy for an R-rated comedy and is expected to stay strong and finish with $100 million or below, depending on the competition in the next few weeks.
TOP 5 3-DAY WEEKEND:
Man of Steel- $113.1 million
This is the End- $20.5 million
Now You See Me- $10.3 million
Fast & Furious 6- $9.4 million
The Purge- $8.2 million
New trailer for Elysium, from Neil Blomkamp, the director of District 9. I have to say, with the lack of original sci-fi stories out there, this one looks pretty cool. Out Aug 9th
The first teaser for Oliver Hirschbiegel's Diana has come out. A German director best known for Downfall (2004), so this could be intriguing. Out Sept 5
The trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has dropped. Out Dec 13th
Looks interesting and slightly different for him, but of course you never know with Woody Allen- he's so hit and miss in his later career. Cate Blanchett looks pretty great, but we'll just have to wait and see on this one. Out July 26th
EW.com has the first image of Evangelline Lilly as elf warrior Tauriel in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, out December 13.
I don't know, there's something kinda Peter Pan-ish about the outfit, don't you think?
I guess you could say i'm something of a Joss Whedon fangirl, given that i've watched every single show/project he's ever been involved with (Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse, Dr. Horrible, Cabin in the Woods, The Avengers, etc.). So of course i was going to see this movie anyway, but i'm excited to hear that it's getting good early reviews.
Rumors have been swirling for days about the actresses in contention to play Hillary in the upcoming biopic Rodham. Contenders included Scarlett Johanssen, Emma Stone, Jessica Chastain, and now the Hollywood Reporter says Carey Mulligan is the frontrunner.

What do you think? Could she be Hillary circa 1973? I have to say, out of all the names on that list, I can kinda see it.
As we await the much anticipated release of Man of Steel in a couple weeks, this behind the scenes video was released. Look pretty good, but i just can't get over the omitting of the red underwear, man. I mean, come on, he's Superman!
One of my most anticipated movies of the fall season, from one of my favorite directors, Alfonso Cuaron (Y tu mama tambien, Children of Men). Out October 4th
J.J. Abram's second foray into the Star Trek universe is arguably as successful as his first. As a non-Trekkie, the 2009 reboot of the nearly 50 year old franchise is one of my favorite movies, and the second entry is a fun-filled, fast-paced, action adventure on par with the first, if not quite exceeding it. All your favorite characters are back on the bridge, including Chris Pine as James T. Kirk and Zach Quinto as Mr. Spock, two examples of quite possibly the best recasting in cinematic history, having taken over for the inimitable Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner. They make both characters entirely their own, exhibiting wonderful timing and easily reinvigorating one of pop culture's most famous bromances. The rest of the cast is in equally fine form, with Karl Urban and Simon Pegg shining in comic relief as Bones and Scotty, while Uhura (Zoe Saldana), Sulu (John Cho) and Checkhov (Anton Yelchin) return to make up the core crew of the Enterprise. Benedict Cumberbatch of Sherlock fame is the villain-who-shall-not-be-named here and has a great time displaying that wonderfully sinister baritone of his as he threatens and stalks our heroes through future Earth and space. The key to the enjoyment of these new Star Trek films is the interactions between the characters, the friendship among the crew, and the witty one-liners and conversations that persist throughout the breakneck action sequences and life threatening situations that Abrams bombards you with. You feel the weight of these friendships, which allows the movie to stick with you in ways that similar light-hearted fare, while enjoyable, often doesn't (Iron Man 3, anyone?) As J.J. Abrams goes off to helm the relaunch of another iconic sci-fi series, he leaves this one in good shape for whoever follows in his footsteps- let's hope we get to see this crew embarking on new adventures and exploring new worlds for lightyears to come.
