Aug 24-29: Breaking Bad Triumphs at the Emmys

This week in Movie News: the box office report for the weekend of the 22nd; my reviews of Maleficent, How to Train Your Dragon 2 and The Fault in Our Stars; the death of Richard Attenborough; the blu-ray pick of the week is All That Jazz; a new TV spot for Gone Girl; Birdman opens the Venice Film Festival with outstanding reviews; a trailer for Rosewater; the recipients of the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Oscars; a new poster for The Judge; and our Movie of the Day series returns with end of summer films for Labor Day weekend, taking a look first at Stand By Me (1986) and Crooklyn (1994).

Aug 17-22: Predicting the 2014 Emmys

This week in Movie News: a final look at the stars we lost last week, with video tributes to Lauren Bacall and Robin Williams; the box office report for the weekend of the 15th; new posters for Dumb and Dumber To; the teaser for Jason Reitman's Toronto bound Men, Women & Children; the blu-ray pick of the week is Y Tu Mama Tambien; my review of Jon Favreau's Chef; a new poster for The Theory of Everything; a new trailer for Nightcrawler; and my review of the new release Calvary, starring Brendan Gleeson.

Aug 10-15: R.I.P. Robin Williams

This week in Movie News: I catch up on some movies that came out in the spring, with reviews of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Neighbors; the box office report for the weekend of the 8th; the third trailer for Maps to the Stars; the blu-ray pick of the week Out of the Past; and the teaser for Johnny Depp's Mortdecai; but mostly the week was preoccupied in the news by the loss of two Hollywood legends- Lauren Bacall and Robin Williams, the latter of whom's sudden and tragic suicide prompted an outpouring of public grief and media attention not seen in years.

This week in TV Home: recap for Masters of Sex 2x05; the teaser for Better Call Saul; and the trailer for the final season of Boardwalk Empire.
