Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is cruising through its guild run, hitting every possible place, making me think it’s the likely Best Picture winner, especially since Tarantino has never won Picture or Director
The Editors guild is the other important guild to hand out nominations today, and all the expected frontrunners made it in to either drama or comedy. I don’t see any egregious snubs or surprises (not even 1917, as the editors are famously averse to nominating movies that did one-take trickery, like Birdman and Roma- which makes me think editors really have a hard time understanding the process of editing, but that’s another story). And yet again, Little Women is bordering on a complete guild shut-out, so I think that one’s out for a Best Picture nomination now.
