The third major critics organization, the NSFC, has fallen for Nomadland and its director Chloe Zhao, which is quickly becoming the overall critics favorite of 2020. Usually the NSFC is the last critics group to announce its winners, but this year it’s kind of all over the place, and the National Board of Review will actually be the last of the major four to announce this week (after almost always going first). Nomadland should probably be considered the frontrunner of the season at this point, but most people haven’t seen it of course, and who knows what the industry will like. The movie comes out on Hulu on Feb. 19th, so we’ve got a while yet before it can be widely seen.
