Rebecca Hall made her directorial debut with this Sundance hit, which is coming out now on Nov. 10th, about a time in the early 20th century when some African-Americans chose to “pass” as white, hiding their true identity. I’m not sure what kind of accent Tessa Thompson thinks she’s doing here, but on top of her inexplicable made up one in Thor: Ragnarok, I’m thinking someone needs to tell her to get some dialect coaching. I’m also not sure either of these actresses could pass as white at that time- maybe someone like Rashida Jones or (former actress) Meghan Markle.
