Well, in a weekend of surprises, it continues at the Writers Guild awards, where CODA took Adapted Screenplay (which couldn’t have been much of a surprise anymore after pulling off PGA last night), but then Adam McKay beat Paul Thomas Anderson over in original screenplay, where Licorice Pizza had been favored after winning BAFTA. BFCA winner Kenneth Branagh was not eligible here though, which leaves this category open at the Oscars, and now it seems to be a three horse race between Don’t Look Up, Licorice Pizza and Belfast.
