Breaking Bad, Modern Family Win at the SAG Awards

lat-2014-sag-show-wre0014293588-20140118.jpeg

Breaking Bad triumphed, as expected, at the SAG awards tonight, as Modern Family also won ensemble for the fourth time. SAG just can't be bothered to watch anything else in comedy, I guess. Surprise wins were Helen Mirren and Ty Burrell, and while Maggie Smith winning an award for Downton Abbey is never exactly a shock, I really thought she was the least likely winner up against some of that competition. I mean, over Claire Danes, Kerry Washington and Anna Gunn, really? I ended up going 5/8 in my predictions- not great, but at least an improvement over the Golden Globes:

  • Male Actor in a Miniseries/TV Movie: Michael Douglas, Behind the Candelabra
  • Female Actor in a Miniseries/TV Movie: Helen Mirren, Phil Spector
  • Male Actor in a Drama Series: Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad
  • Female Actor in a Drama Series: Maggie Smith, Downton Abbey
  • Male Actor in a Comedy Series: Ty Burrell, Modern Family
  • Female Actor in Comedy Series: Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Veep
  • Ensemble Cast in a Drama Series: Breaking Bad
  • Ensemble Cast in a Comedy Series: Modern Family
