The Charles/Di season of The Crown is coming in hot with awards bodies, despite the royals’ bitter public reaction

Big Bridgerton snub here, as it was completely and surprisingly blanked, given the HFPA’s love of shiny new things, leaving the path open for The Crown to potentially sweep, as once again, following Critics Choice the other day, both Josh O’Connor and Emma Corrin got nominated in the lead categories. Starting to suspect Emma Corrin is in for a possible very strong awards run for this show, as well as the show itself for its buzzy fourth season. The Queen’s Gambit is likely to win in miniseries, as well as its lead Anya Taylor-Joy, while I would probably expect Schitt’s Creek to dominate the comedy categories for its farewell season like it did at the Emmys. As usual, there were many gripes about the HFPA’s taste in choosing to nominate flat out bad stuff (The Undoing, Emily in Paris, Ratched) over shows like Better Call Saul (though honestly the Globes never even liked Breaking Bad that much, so while it sucks, it’s to be expected).
