'The Irishman' Leads Critics Choice Nominations

The Irishman seems to be dominating the season early on

I don’t particularly respect this group. The Broadcast Film Critics Association are not critics- they’re bloggers, on camera personalities, “journalists,” etc. And they like to basically nominate everyone they can possibly think of in each category to cover all their bases (seven or eight nominees in acting, whatever they feel like). But they consider themselves another Oscar influencer (at least in terms of their Best Picture nominees) and their show airs on TV (even if a lot of people don’t show up for it), so here they are. The only real surprise is that Uncut Gems appears to be doing a lot better than anyone would have thought beforehand. But it’s true, these ten BP nominees could easily be the Oscar list, minus one (probably Uncut Gems). I would not be surprised if it was.
