Yay, Parasite! My gamble paid off, as Parasite became the first foreign-language film to ever win the ensemble award at the Screen Actors Guild. Awesome. This places it in a possible upset position for Best Picture, since the actors are obviously behind it (the room gave the cast one of the biggest standing ovations I’ve ever seen at SAG just for being there to present the movie), but interestingly enough, both this and 1917 have zero acting nominations at the Oscars, which is unusual for a Best Picture winner. As for the rest, all the individual acting Oscars seem locked at this point- no upsets at all for Phoenix, Zellweger, Pitt and Dern. Bet on each of them in their respective categories on Oscar night.

2020 SAG WINNERS

  • Ensemble: Parasite

  • Lead Actor: Joaquin Phoenix, Joker

  • Lead Actress: Renee Zellweger, Judy

  • Supporting Actor: Brad Pitt, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

  • Supporting Actress: Laura Dern, Marriage Story
