Knives Out is nominated for the PGA Award
The Producers Guild has lately become the most important precursor for the Oscar win- usually the winner of this award goes on to win Best Picture, mostly because the PGA membership is almost the same size as the Academy (about 6000 members) and they use the same kind of preferential balloting system (ranked voting) that Oscar does, while no other awards body votes like that. So we’ll have to watch for their winner, but for now the ten nominees are mostly as expected. The Oscars usually have nine, sometimes eight, so I would expect their list to match this one, minus one or two films. The most vulnerable is probably Knives Out, then either Little Women or Ford v. Ferrari, but maybe it’s just Knives Out. The winner is announced next Saturday night, January 18th.
