This film from Chloe Zhao is set to be a critical darling of 2020, having already won the People’s Choice Award at TIFF (normally a major boon to a movie’s Oscar hopes, but this year who knows) and landing on critic’s top ten lists all over the place. I think it will be an awards darling as well, but the problem is, when can we actually see it? Fox Searchlight wants it come out in theaters and is planning on a February release, which…yeah. Fat chance. No current plans to stream it anywhere, so it may be a while before any audience besides critics (who get screeners) can see this. Looks pretty good though! Frances McDormand guaranteed another Oscar nod for sure.
