LAFCA says Amazon’s Small Axe, all of it, is a movie

Figures that the LA critics, after NY stole their “quirky reputation” thunder thus year by picking First Cow, had to one up themselves by picking a miniseries that’s eligible for next year’s Emmys, not Oscars. What they want is to start a debate about whether all movie/TV content is really one and the same (at least this year), but as of this moment, Small Axe, a five episode miniseries directed by Steve McQueen (who calls each of them films) is not considered an actual movie. The rest of their picks speak to the movies getting good reviews at the moment, and I’m in the process of trying to catch up with all of them.
