ACE Eddie and VES Nominees Like 'Sound of Metal,' 'Tenet'

Final guild nominees today, before winners start coming in in the weeks ahead. The ACE Eddie is the editing guild, which is an important precursor for Best Picture. Everything that got into these categories was expected though, so no snubs. Sound of Metal getting in here shows how strong that movie really is though- I wasn’t sure it would get into Best Picture in the end, but it looks like it still has a chance.

The Visual Effects Society (VES) nominated these films for their award, but they don’t always match Oscar completely in this category. There were less of the usual blockbuster fare that gets nominated and tends to win this award as a nod to the genre most popular at the box office, a factor that really was non-existent this past year:

The VES was one of the few guilds that nominated Christopher Nolan’s film Tenet
