I’m glad Paul Raci got something for his very effective performance in Sound of Metal

Of course it does. By now we couldn’t expect anything different, right? ISA’s male acting winners were different though, with that Sound of Metal love really shining through here for Oscar nominees Riz Ahmed and Paul Raci. And the Indie Spirits gave Carey Mulligan her second win of the season, something besides that Critics Choice award (though this isn’t really that different). Usually ISA takes place the night before the Oscars, but this year it’s three days earlier. I think we can expect Nomadland to triumph right through to the end.

  • BEST DOCUMENTARY: Crip Camp

  • BEST SUPPORTING MALE: Paul Raci, Sound of Metal

  • BEST FIRST FEATURE: Sound of Metal

  • BEST FIRST SCREENPLAY: Palm Springs

  • BEST SUPPORTING FEMALE: Yuh-jung Youn, Minari
