Don’t Look Up has showed up in the most important guilds in spite of the worst reviews so far for an Adam McKay film

ACE Eddie and WGA Noms Go for 'Dune,' 'Being the Ricardos'

Don’t Look Up has showed up in the most important guilds in spite of the worst reviews so far for an Adam McKay film

The Ace Eddie awards are a heavy precursor for what movies have Best Picture heat, which is why the snub of West Side Story in drama is troublesome for that film. Especially in favor of Bond of all things? The editors continue to show that Belfast and Power of the Dog are the frontrunners.

2022 ACE EDDIE NOMINEES

BEST EDITED FEATURE FILM (DRAMATIC):
Belfast
Dune
King Richard
No Time to Die
The Power of the Dog

BEST EDITED FEATURE FILM (COMEDY):
Cruella
Don’t Look Up
The French Dispatch
Licorice Pizza
tick, tick…BOOM!

And now, the WGA. As always, so many movies are deemed ineligible for the writers guild awards, including Belfast and Power of the Dog, so if West Side Story couldn’t get in here, that’d be a serious problem. It did get in though, but we don’t know what these categories will look like come Oscar time, with more films eligible, at least in the adapted category.

2022 WGA NOMINEES

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s directorial debut has shown surprising strength in the guilds but will that translate to the Academy?

ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY
Being the Ricardos
Don’t Look Up
The French Dispatch
