Power of the Dog wins at BAFTA, solidifying its status as the one to beat

BAFTA Rubber Stamps Oscar Front Runners as 'Power of the Dog' Wins Picture and Director

Power of the Dog wins at BAFTA, solidifying its status as the one to beat

Well nothing much interesting happened here, folks. Not even Benedict Cumberbatch wins Best Actor from the Brits? Apparently not, as Will Smith certainly seems locked now (as do all the acting winners imo, as Tammy Faye’s win in makeup seems to hint that Jessica Chastain is likely the favorite for the Oscar as well). Dune dominated the techs while CODA won adapted screenplay in the one potential surprise now, going into Oscar night. The Power of the Dog only winning Picture and Director could well happen with the Academy too now, which is odd, but with no consensus alternative, pretty likely. It depends on if anything else can win at PGA next week, which uses the preferential ballot. The spoiler does seem to be CODA, but I have strong doubts that it can win Picture with only three Oscar nominations.
