Here are the Writers Guild nominees for 2019! The big boost here is obviously 1917, which made it into the original screenplay category, and I suppose Little Women as well, which had been having a pretty bad guild run, but now makes it into writing, which is s big one. Certain movies every year are always ineligible for this guild (this time it’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Farewell and Pain and Glory), so the Oscar nominations will always be different. But in Little Women’s case, it looks like it beat out The Two Popes, which was eligible, so that’s a good sign for it. But expect Tarantino to replace one the original nominees (probably Booksmart I’m guessing). And the other two films I mentioned could also get in- normally war movies are vulnerable in screenplay, so we’ll have to see just how strong 1917 is with the writers when the Oscar nominations come out next Tuesday. As for adapted, these are probably the five Oscar nominees.
