Nomadland remains the solid frontrunner
And there you have it. This looks to be a sweep year, as the perceived frontrunner Nomadland proved it could win on a preferential ballot tonight, winning the top producers guild award and combined with its near certain DGA victory for Chloe Zhao, will absolutely be the frontrunner for the Oscar. It won’t win SAG, because it wasn’t nominated for the top ensemble prize there, but this does look to be a year with no real competition for Best Picture.
