The Crown’s Camilla gets a DGA nom- it’d be nice to have more than woman in the running here, but will Oscar follow suit?
The nominees for the Directors Guild awards usually correspond to the strongest Best Picture nominees, and based on the guild runs, I’d say these were all expected. For the first time, there are two women in the running, but since the Oscar directing nominees rarely match DGA five for five, my instinct tells me Fennell could be the one that misses for someone else. The directors branch of the Academy is much smaller, quirkier and more elite than the directors guild.
